
Dr. Jennifer Cooper has given solo and chamber recital tours and master classes throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. She has served as flutist with the National Academy Orchestra of Canada, Orchestre de la Francophonie Canadienne and Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, KY, and has performed with Helena Symphony, Huntington Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Westben Festival Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony and West Virginia Symphony Orchestras. Jennifer is a laureate of many competitions including the William C. Byrd Young Artists Competition, Gilbert/Feld Prize for Woodwind Duo (RNCM), the Elora Festival Young Artists Competition, Royal Northern College Concerto Competition, Pittsburgh Flute Club, Claude Monteaux Flute Competition, and the Cincinnati Flute Symposium. Her research on Canadian Music for Flute has been published in the British Flute Journal, Pan, and her article on Mixed Chamber Duos for the Flute in the Flutist Quarterly journal. She has recorded CD's of Canadian Flute Octets, Flute Quartets as a member of Quartet Laurier, Canadian Flute Duos, and a recording with her chamber duo, Awea Duo, on Lei Liang’s chamber compilation, Bamboo Lights. Awea Duo released their debut album, Shade of Darkness in April 2018.
Jennifer has served on faculty as Assistant Professor of Flute and Music History at Morehead State University, KY, has taught at Lutheran Summer Music Festival and Academy at Luther College, IA, has served as faculty with the MOLLI institute at University of Montana, served as theory faculty at the International Choral Festival Academy, and participated as woodwind and music history faculty with the KIIS consortium in Salzburg, Austria. She currently serves as Flute and Theory faculty at the University of Montana, as Flutist with Missoula Symphony, and tours and performs with Awea Duo.
Jennifer received her Doctoral degree in Flute Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) with a cognate in Music Theory, and holds degrees in Flute Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music, (RNCM) Manchester, U.K., and Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. Her teachers include Randy Bowman, Brad Garner, Peter Lloyd, Amy Hamilton, and she has been selected to play for many renowned flutists in Masterclasses throughout North America and Europe including, Emmanuel Pahud, Mathieu Dufour, Robert Langevin, William Bennet, Jeanne Baxtresser and the Royal Concertgebouw Wind Quintet.
